Brave of the North

The main symbol of Tatsuno Junior High School is the huge “Zelkova tree” which rises beside the school gate and towers on the banks of the Tenryu river.

Since the opening of the school in 1958, the Zelkova Spirit has been known as a symbol of eagerness to improve learning. Watching the Zelkova tree each season and considering the myriad roots that nurture and support them, staffs are wishing to raise persons who are gentle and beautiful, who understand the pain of other people, who are aware of the “Declaration of Human Rights in the student council,” who patiently strive for goals and challenges and persons with burning desire for studying just like that Zelkova tree stretching its branches in the sky. Staffs are with great care and focus on class (greeting, cleaning, dressing neatly), class concentration, and to live a better life.

The tradition that our seniors have built over the years which became our pride and guide to move forward is still alive in today’s Tatsuno Junior High School.

We will learn from the senior students and do our best to help and support our students learn the right wisdom and grow up to be rich and strong through learning, student council activities, and club activities in order to respond to the support from local citizens and community.
